Managing your Florida Power Light (FPL) bill

Energy use can increase during certain times of the year for many common reasons, like warmer weather. But unique circumstances, like we find ourselves in today, also play a role.

Understanding as much as possible about all these factors can translate into lower bills. Check out the following tips to help you lower your bill.

1. Understand the components of your bill: Your FPL bill consists of various components such as energy charge, base charge, taxes, and surcharges. It's essential to understand each component to identify any discrepancies.

2. Check Your Meter Reading: FPL charges based on the electricity usage units (kilowatt-hours) in a month as per your meter reading. You can check the reading on your bill and compare it with your actual usage recorded on the meter.

3. Monitor Your Usage: To manage your bill, you need to monitor your electricity usage and find ways to reduce it. You can use smart home products like thermostats, power strips, and LED lights to conserve energy.

4. Enroll in the FPL Budget Billing Program: This program allows customers to pay a fixed amount each month based on the average of the last 12 months' bills. This helps to avoid spikes in bills during peak usage months.
